Why 0.5 Micron?

It's restrictive enough to block airborne mold spores, bacteria, and environmental contaminants, while open enough to support the CO₂/O₂ gas exchange mycelium needs for healthy, fast colonization. If you're choosing one filter rating to run your entire operation on, 0.5 micron is it.

Sterilization Notes
- Wrap the filter patch in aluminum foil before autoclaving to prevent moisture saturation — a wet filter is no longer a contamination barrier
- Minimum sterilization: 2.5 hours at 15 PSI for grain loads; 2 hours for sawdust/bulk substrate
- Allow bags to cool completely before inoculation
- Single-use recommended for production environments
